Happy Earth Day!

April 22, 2012

Happy Earth Day! What are you doing this weekend? What kind of events are happening in your community?

The first Earth Day was April 22, 1970. Here is an interesting look back at a NBC news report from that day, talking about the various protests and rallies that occurred in cities all over the country.

The closing remarks, a warning from a government scientist, indicate that “pollution, and over-pollution, unless checked, could so warm the earth in 200 years as to create a greenhouse effect melting the arctic ice cap and flooding vast areas of the world.” Now, 42 years later, that prediction seems even more imminent, with a much shorter timeline.

So what can you do? determine your ecological footprint then find ways to reduce your impact. What will you change?
