Weekend Recommendation

December 4, 2009

Happy Friday! If you’re in the Boston area and looking for something to do this weekend, I would recommend going to the Science Museum to see selections from Chris Jordan’s series, Running the Numbers. I wrote about his work recently but just wanted to reiterate how cool I think they are, especially now that I’ve seen them in person! Check out some of my photos below, or for much better quality images, go to Chris Jordan’s website. Also, see the photo on the bottom – people were urged to leave comments regarding the show and one of the best ones read “how many index cards are we wasting right now?” They’ve got a point.

depicts 2.4 million pieces of plastic (about the number of pounds of plastic pollution that enter the world's ocean hourly)

depicts 1.14million brown paper bags, the number used in the U.S. hourly

depicts 106,000 aluminum cans, the number used in the U.S. every 30 seconds
