About Me

Hello friends and welcome! I’m Liza. Here are a few little things that make me, me: I like cupcakes, building forts, the ocean, sunlight, tea, traveling, polaroids, treehouses, modern art, chandeliers, spring flowers and farmer’s markets.

I started this blog, Sustain By Design, because I believe that good, creative design will make the world a better place. I believe that design should be inherently sustainable, and that the gap between “green design” and “good design” needs to be closed. The way we live has to become more environmentally sustainable, but that doesn’t have to be ugly or bland, or even beige. It can be bright and intelligent. We need to innovate and create to build a healthier, happier planet. We can re-design our products, systems, politics and relationships to live more sustainably.

This blog will examine some of the people, places, innovations and trends that are leading the way.  I hope you’ll find a little bit of inspiration and learn something new!

Read, enjoy, comment.

Cheers!

-Liza

You have my attention, Lisa. I’m in Alaska, LEED AP, too. I love architeture, ocean, sunlight, traveling, treehouses, modern art, flowers and farmer’s markets, too. The others (chandelier, cupcakes, tea, etc.) I like but don’t consider love objects. I scan blogs, don’t usually comment but I’m procrasting. I’m in the “green jobs” business: work as an end use energy specialist, renewable energy administrator and I’ve got 4 long presentations to put together. Good luck, all the best. I may come back. I appreciate your likes.

I love this quote and I so agree…… ‘The way we live has to become more environmentally sustainable, but that doesn’t have to be ugly or bland, or even beige.’

    P.S. I work for your Dad…..

    Hi Lisa,
I like your blog and I like tea. I have a blog “pot of sustainabiliTEA” although I am not a bloger.
Royal Roads University, where I go to school, just built a LEED gold building. It’s a wonderful concept. Keeping sipping tea and saving the world.

This is a beautiful website, Liza, both in design and content! Delighted that you stopped by mine as it’s given me the opportunity to discover a whole other world on yours. And I love its philosophy. Thanks…

    Cheers,
    Julian
