Danielle Trofe Designs

May 23, 2012

Danielle Trofe, a Brooklyn designer, just debuted Live Screen at NYC’s Design Week (Wanted Design) and it’s pretty cool. It’s a modular vertical planter system that uses hydroponic technology to be self-sustaining. I like the idea of using it in offices, or other public spaces; it would be an interesting way to grow vegetables and herbs in a restaurant too.

Check out how the system works, and why hydroponics are being used more frequently in our agricultural system in this video.

She has also designed some other interesting products; I really like the steam-bent popular ribbon barstool. How cool is this?

Not quite hydroponics, but I just encountered this dish rack that helps to grow herbs from excess dishwater. Really nifty design that caught my eye.
